A puppy mill in India is a high-volume commercial breeding operation where dogs are bred continuously for profit with no health testing, minimal socialisation, and inadequate veterinary care. An ethical breeder performs OFA hip certification and DNA health testing on both parents, breeds limited litters per year, socialises puppies from birth, and provides a health guarantee. If a pet shop claims their puppies come from “responsible breeders,” ask for the specific breeder’s name, contact details, and health certificates.
