First 30 Days with a Doodle Puppy — The Complete Roadmap

· May 15, 2026 · 1 min read

Days 1 to 3: Quiet Adjustment Period

Your puppy has just travelled and entered a completely new environment. Resist the urge to introduce everyone immediately. Set up a dedicated puppy zone — a crate, bed, water bowl, and puppy pads — in one quiet room. Let the puppy explore at their own pace. No visitors for the first 48 hours.

Week 1: Establishing Routine

Doodles are creatures of routine. Feed at the same times daily (6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM for a puppy). Take outside to the same spot every time — after every meal, after every nap, after every play session.

Week 2 to 4: Basic Commands

Poodles and Doodles learn commands in 5 repetitions or fewer — the second most intelligent dog breed. By day 30, your puppy should reliably respond to: Sit, Come, Stay (3 seconds), Off, Leave it. Use only positive reinforcement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I crate train my Doodle puppy?

Yes. Crate training is one of the kindest things you can do for your puppy. A crate gives them a safe personal space and dramatically accelerates toilet training. Start with the crate door open, feed meals inside, and build positive associations before closing the door.
